My dad.is a good man.i love him lots..( if not, then no allowance..:( ...lol,kidding...or am i?.lololol..kidding lah seriously!)..But yes.He is a kind man,he is a gentleman.sometimes hard to live with, but it's all good, cuz it's overlapped by the rest of his good qualities..He tells the worlds lamest jokes, that i can say rather matter of factly..It's so lame i have to actually brief my friends who meet him for the 1st time.you know,to just brace themselves in case of any untoward lameness from his side..
But yeah.he's cool and all.But the one thing, the one thing that i cannot and will not stand is his love for the 2 dollar shop..And it's not because he's cheap.Cuz,thankfully,he has come to a point in his life, where money is not a problem anymore(touchwood)..he's rather generous to children, not only his,but to children in general, like really, really generous..Sadly though just not to himself. It has a lot to do with his childhood i guess.he came from a family of 7 children.his dad was a detective in the police force who was in charge of all the gangsters that ended up in his jurisdiction after being banished from their original states..his dad died when he was in medical college..and he never got to pay his last respects, due to the distance by ship involved..So yeah.luxuries didn't really go hand in hand with his childhood.thus, simple things(like really2 simple made in china things) fascinates him a whole lot. I'm not here to diss,i guess it's a good trait to have. And fyi, he has zero idea on how to use electronics, save for the remote that opens the gate.give him a prehistoric model, handphone, and that would stump him for days. He's never used a computer in his life, and still has a radio which i believe was made around the same time the mesopotamians made the wheel...It's really old.......But curse!!,curse be the day that damn two dollar shop opened below his workplace..He's become the customer of the year,hell.., the Millennium in that place.I won't be surprised if the owners immortalize him with a statue to show their gratitude..
The whole damn house is filled with 2 dollar shop contraptions.Things the household don't even need.( sometimes,i seriously wonder if his practice is in the two dollar shop now)....Like example,He'll come back with a weird ass,*uses unknown* looking thing and he'll go like,"eh boy,i thought of you and got you this, say thank you!.:D"..and I'll be like uhhh.."thanks,but what the heck is that?".."well beats me,it looked nice,so that's your job.figure out and let me know what it does"..*at this point,I'll be mentally rolling my eyes*..But i never even bother,( i know, its mean of me,but what am i supposed to do?)..and i leave it somewhere and forget that it ever existed.and somehow.those pesky dogs will always get to it,and use it as their chew toy.and a week later he'll find its mangled remains in the garden and will be like "boy, what's this i found,is this how you take care of your things?,i went to all that trouble to get you this and you don't even bother." and i'll be like "what the hell is that?,oh right..that,sorry.hehe,btw what trouble?.all you did was walk down a flight of stairs*mentally rolls eyes at this point*".."That's not the point,it just shows how much you appreciate the things i do for you"..and I'll have to be like," but i don't even know what it does lah!" which he will say "you could have tried harder,it has lights.probably is a torchlight or something..ungrateful boy"..me:"what?.wth,but it looks like a comb!!.man im sorry.geez!"...
But i don't worry about it,a few days later, the same scenario would unfold with the infamous "eh boy, look what i got for you, hehe" line..
So yeah,it doesn't really faze him when he meets people there.he'll be like oh hello, you shop here too?.this place is amazing right..I really do hope no one else shares his enthusiasm for that damn shop..curse it someore!.It's like he spends his free time chillin in that shop.wth..stop man!.sometimes,i really have to break it down to him "see father,it's called the 2 dollar shop, cuz it's cheap dammit!.but the way you shop there, you actually think it's freaking Hermes or knightsbridge" and he'll be like "eh whats your problem,it's not like you're living under a bridge.what do you know about life".and ill be like.crap..checkmate...lol..but meh.it's his choice..at least he's contented with life..But i do hope he'll stop one day..May sound selfish, but what has to be done has to be done..peace ya'll,have a good day!..
